Encore Capital Group to promote Financial Literacy in the U.K. through collaboration with Junior Achievement Worldwide Member Young Enterprise
Supporting financial literacy in Children is something that our Cabot U.K. team is passionate about. For years, our colleagues have partnered with primary school children through our Skills 4 Bills® program which gives Key Stage 2 (age 9-11) children awareness of the financial commitments and decisions they will face during their lives.
Our work with Young Enterprise will allow our teams to cast an even wider net and promote financial literacy amongst young people to help them take charge of their financial future at older age groups than Skills 4 Bills® caters for.
“I’m proud that our colleagues volunteer to deliver key financial lessons to young people across the communities we work in” said Paul Jenkins, Managing Director of Cabot Credit Management U.K. “Helping young people understand debt, how to save for the future, and how to manage finances responsibly, is key to their financial literacy and I’m happy we use our experience to share that knowledge”.
Young Enterprise Collaboration to Include Financial and Employee Volunteer Support for Financial Education Programs
Encore Capital Group (Encore) is proud to expand its support of Junior Achievement’s (JA) mission through a new collaboration with JA Worldwide member, Young Enterprise. JA is one of the world’s largest and most impactful youth-serving nonprofits, delivering hands-on, immersive learning in entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial health. Young Enterprise is a charity that motivates young people to succeed in the changing world of work by equipping them with essential skills, knowledge and confidence.
“The path to economic freedom begins with financial education,” said Eloisa Orozco, Encore’s Director of Communications and Global Community Impact Lead. “By supporting the programmatic efforts of JA Worldwide member, Young Enterprise, we are helping to provide young people in one of our largest markets with the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success.”
Through this collaboration, Encore will provide financial support to help fund Young Enterprise’s programmatic efforts that reach youth across England, Scotland and Wales, and colleagues from Encore’s Cabot Credit Management (Cabot) U.K. business will volunteer to help deliver their financial education programs locally.
“We are grateful to Encore Capital Group for their donation and offer of volunteers to support the delivery of our programmes,” said Sarah Porretta, CEO of Young Enterprise. “Encore already support other JA entities in Central and North America and in Europe, and we are pleased to share their belief in the power of financial education to transform the lives of young people no matter their starting point. We look forward to working with Encore to help young people develop confidence, teamwork, problem-solving and money skills that last a lifetime.”
A growing commitment to support JA’s mission
This support for Young Enterprise grows Encore’s global footprint of support for Junior Achievement’s mission. In 2023, Encore started its partnership with Junior Achievement of San Diego County, and soon after in 2024 expanded through Junior Achievement USA to support programs in U.S. cities that Encore’s U.S. subsidiary, Midland Credit Management, operates in. And earlier this year, Encore also began support for Fundación Junior Achievement España in Spain and Junior Achievement Costa Rica. Most recently, Encore’s President & CEO, Ashish Masih, became a member of the JA Worldwide Global Council.
